There are websites and magazines devoted to the LA food scene, and I couldn’t possibly begin to do justice to the scope and variety of food available in LA now. From Son of a Gun, a cozy little seafood place with the most amazing fried chicken sandwich, to Hinoki & the Bird, a combination of the best cuisines of many cultures combined to raise the level of eating to new, ecstatic heights – there’s always something amazing going on. Pistola serves happy Italian comfort food in a spare, contemporary building that you might mistake for a manufacturing plant. Republique and Kreation have legions of loyal followers every day, who wait patiently for a chance to chow down on savory rice bowls, classic American favorites and healthy – always healthy – hybrids of foods sourced from all over the world. My only regret is that I missed Koreatown on this visit – next time! In the meantime, a few things you might want to try if you’re planning a trip to LA:
