I’ve written before about So Others Might Eat (SOME), a community-based organization that exists to help the poor and homeless in Washington DC. SOME is very much in need of unwrapped NEW toys for children of all ages living in their facilities, for their parents to give them on Christmas morning. What a happy opportunity to do something wonderful for a child! SOME would appreciate your toy donations by December 20, in order to have the time to sort and distribute them. Toys can be delivered to SOME at 71 O Street NW, Washington DC. For more information please call 202 797 8806, ext. 2104 or email donations@some.org.
If you would like to participate but don’t have time to purchase and deliver a gift, SOME gratefully accepts financial donations. To donate, please go to this link.
Remembering a needy child at Christmas is a good idea wherever you live, so if you aren’t in the Washington area, the Marines’ Toys for Tots program helps less fortunate children around the US through their annual toy drive. Toys for Tots is a long-running and well-respected charitable organization that has been brightening Christmases for kids for many years. There are drop-off locations all over the country, so if you want to donate a toy, please go to this link: http://www.toysfortots.org/donate/toys.aspx.
Merry Christmas!
